If an indicator is displaying unexpected results or appears to be calculating incorrectly, follow these steps before contacting support.
STEP 1 — CHECK YOUR DATA FEED
Most indicator issues are caused by data feed problems, not the indicator itself.
In NinjaTrader 8:
1. Check the connection status in the bottom right corner — it should show Connected
2. If disconnected, reconnect your data feed
3. Once reconnected, right-click your chart → Reload NinjaScript
STEP 2 — RELOAD THE CHART
1. Right-click on your chart
2. Select Reload NinjaScript
3. Wait for the chart to fully reload
4. Check if the indicator is now displaying correctly
STEP 3 — CHECK YOUR CHART SETTINGS
1. Make sure your chart timeframe matches the indicator's intended use
2. Check that you have enough historical data loaded
3. Some indicators require a minimum number of bars to calculate correctly — try loading more data
STEP 4 — REVIEW INDICATOR SETTINGS
1. Double-click the indicator on your chart to open settings
2. Compare your settings against the setup guide for that indicator
3. Reset to default values if unsure
STEP 5 — MAKE SURE YOU'RE ON THE LATEST VERSION
The toolbox lets you know when a new version is ready — updates are installed manually. If you've been putting one off, install it (see: How do I install an update?) and check the indicator again.
WHEN CONTACTING SUPPORT
If none of that fixes it, submit a request through the support form and include:
- Your subscription email address
- The name of the indicator
- Your NinjaTrader version (Help → About)
- Your data feed provider
- Screenshot of the indicator on your chart
- Screenshot of the indicator settings
- Description of what you expected vs what you are seeing
